Aligned Impact Muscatine is a leading cradle-to-career initiative of United Way in Muscatine County, Iowa.

AIM and its partners rely on data to align strategies, track progress, attain funding, and improve outcomes for Muscatine county. Finding Common Purpose recently granted to AIM to funding two innovative projects aimed at improving outcomes for children, families, and the local workforce.

“[Our] approach is grounded in AIM’s established collective impact framework and reflects best practices in place‑based partnerships that emphasize publicly accessible outcomes data, community engagement, and shared accountability across sectors,” said Kim Warren, Executive Director of AIM.

The grant will support two major projects: the development of a comprehensive Community Dashboard to track progress  and the launch of a Workforce Outcomes Mapping initiative.

The Workforce Outcomes Mapping project will track individual employment outcomes for Muscatine’s youth. By linking education and training to meaningful careers, the project aims to ensure every adult in Muscatine County has the opportunity to complete schooling or workforce training that leads to a family-sustaining job.

The Community Dashboard, designed to provide clear and accessible progress updates, will enable residents, organizations, and leaders to track and enhance collective achievement of the community’s cradle-to-career goals. Through strengthened data-informed collaboration across sectors, the initiative seeks to encourage strategic alignment and more effective action.

“This grant advances AIM’s mission by turning data into a shared community asset, strengthening alignment across systems, and accelerating progress toward long-term outcomes for children, families, and the local workforce,” said  Warren.

This project will generate valuable learnings for other places‑based partnerships seeking to expand access to community-level data for outcomes‑focused collaboration. “Over a decade of strategic collaborative efforts, trust building and local data sharing makes them well primed for this grant and the undertaking of such projects,” said Hephzibah Okorie of FCP. Through this work and collaboration with FCP,  AIM will be well-positioned to share insights on how dashboards can reinforce shared vision, strengthen accountability, and support long‑term systems change, helping to provide a resource for other rural communities to implement.

“Through our partnership with Finding Common Purpose, we are making more community data publicly available for everyone. This shared access empowers our organization, our partners, and our residents to make informed decisions that strengthen our community-especially improving outcomes from cradle to career.”
