Andrew founded Root Cause in 2004, a purpose-driven consulting group that exists to enable more people and families to achieve lifelong success.

Root Cause has partnered more than 200 foundations, non-profit organizations, businesses, school districts, and public agencies to develop, implement, and measure strategies that improve people½s health and well-being, increase education and youth development outcomes, and strengthen the economic security of people and families nationwide.

Projects focus on creating the conditions for more people and families to thrive while reducing disparities based on factors such as race, class, gender, and geography. To learn more about the types of work Root Cause does, visit the website or email afung@rootcause.org

The Common Purpose Project (CPP) seeks to reframe success in the 21st century by promoting and supporting initiatives who facilitate the public, private, and nonprofit sectors working together with community members to improve lives across the Pathway to Lifelong Success: from a healthy birth, to entering school ready to learn, to receiving a quality education, to getting and keeping a good paying job, to healthy and secure aging with a focus on reducing disparities.

Andrew co-founded along with Dan Monti Inner City Entrepreneurs, now known as Interise, an independent nonprofit organization.

Interise started with a simple idea, shift the focus of technical assistance from start-up small businesses to existing community-based businesses that want to grow to create more jobs and wealth. Andrew wrote the original curriculum that is now referred to as Streetwise MBA.

Today, Interise has delivered the Streetwise MBA to over 10,000 small businesses with partners in 80 cities across the nation. To learn more about Interise visit their website or email info@interise.org

Andrew founded the Social Innovation Forum (SIF) in 2003 as a program of Root Cause, and SIF spun off as an independent nonprofit organization in 2015.

SIF creates positive social change in greater Boston by engaging leaders, strengthening organizations, and building networks. Under the leadership of Susan Musinsky, SIF has grown from a volunteer-led initiative to a respected nonprofit organization that annually engages more than 4,000 individuals from the philanthropic, business, and social impact communities. To date, SIF has accelerated the performance of 122 innovative, results-oriented nonprofits and social enterprises in greater Boston and has directed more than $38 million in cash and in-kind services to these organizations to help them scale and sustain their work.

In 2016, Root Cause spun off part of its consulting practice into a new benefit corporation, Impact Catalysts focused on organizational effectiveness for mission based organizations moving into the mezzanine stage of organizational development.

Impact Catalysts partners with social enterprises and philanthropies. They start every consulting relationship with an exploration of the challenges the client faces. Sometimes the client has a clear idea of what they need in a business plan, a performance measurement framework, a sustainability strategy and sometimes they use the inquiry phase to determine what sort of process is needed. Either way, there is no cookie cutter approach. Each client engagement builds on our previous work but is uniquely adapted to the clients circumstances.
